Collaborative Editing in Tettra
Creating content in Tettra is often a collaborative process. Understanding drafts, version history, and categories will help as you work with your team.
Using a Private Category
To collaboratively edit a page in Tettra, we recommend sharing a private category (available on our Scaling and Professional plans). Here's how to use a private category to collaboratively edit a page:
- Create a category and set the permissions to include you and your collaborators. No one else on your team will see the pages in this category.
- Create a page in this new private category (or move a page into the category).
- Mention your teammate in the page or in a comment. Use the comment thread to discuss changes to the document.
- Every time you edit the page, be sure to click Publish, so your teammate can edit the page also.
- View the Version history to see the history of changes and roll back to a previous version if necessary.
- When your changes are complete, move the page to a shared team category to share it to the rest of your team.
Verification is only available on the Scaling and Professional plans. Learn more about our plans here.
Avoiding conflicts
If another team member is editing a page when you try to edit it, you'll see this warning:
The collision detection modal isn't limited to situations where a teammate is actively working on edits in an open tab. You might see this warning if one of your teammates started editing a page previously and left the page without saving those edits.
Clicking Edit anyway will allow you to edit the page, and any previous unpublished changes will be lost. To check if a page draft is saved, follow the instructions in Working With Drafts.
