How searching in Tettra works

Tettra's search function helps users find their documentation through the use of keywords.

There is an auto-suggest and filter-by-category feature, which helps speed up searching and pinpoint content fast.



How to search in Tettra

When you click in the search bar, you'll see the search modal pop up with a list of the top suggested results.


Use the keyboard shortcut for search! Command-K on a Mac or Control-K on a PC.

Click Ask question to turn your search into a question. Learn more about AI answers in our article How to ask question in the Tettra web app.



Click on Advanced search to see more options. In addition to seeing the owner of the page, its location, and the last-updated date, you can interact with your search results in four ways:


  1. Click on Questions, Page requests, or Links to see results only in those categories.

  1. Toggle between Published and Archived to Search Archived Content.

  1. View the title and content summary of results with the search term highlighted.

  1. Click on a category to view only results in that category. (Deselect a category by clicking it again.)

Understanding searchable content in Tettra


Tettra's search does look for:

page titles and headers

comments on a page 

all page content

content in attached files

tables in pages

content in embedded resources, or iFrames 

file attachment names

templates

external link names

the body content of external documents

questions and answers

category and subcategory titles

page requests

archived content


Search details


Priority of search results

Search results are given priority based on the following order:   

1. Page title matches 

2. Header matches in descending order from H1 to H3 

3. Content on a page


Multi-word searches

Tettra displays results only if both terms are located in the same paragraph or table cell.


Typos!

Tettra will allow you a couple of typos and still find what you're looking for:

Depending on word length, one or two mistyped characters are allowed. 


Supported languages

All languages/characters are supported so long as they match the language/characters of your documentation.
